Why, Monica? Why?

IMDb: 7.7/10
Rotten Tomatoes: 77%
My rating: 4/10 (Mainly for Sikander Kher and the BGM)
OTT: Netflix

Monica O My Darling is just cringe. It was like a school play put together by kids trying to impress the adults by showing how many twists they could fit into the leaky-as-Belafonte’s-bucket plot…and then hiring the services of the security guard, the Principal’s elder sister, and the French teacher as the leads. Just. Over. The. Top. Juvy stuff.

Also, I love RKR and Huma (indeed, I crush on her), but he was at sea here (he could have at least studied one or two brash small town Unicorn CEOs, of which we have plenty in India before making such a hash of it) and she looked like a yesteryear actress well over the hill and held together by spandex and makeup (does not help that she was doing another movie parallely in which she was supposed to be overweight; she looks like Gloria from Madagascar trying to pull off a Jessica Rabbit). And yes, welcome to Bollywood, Radhika Apte, the Akshay Kumar of OTT; like him, you are now sleepwalking through movies. It was sad to watch three of my favourite actors (as in ‘people who can act’ rather than just film stars) stumble along this excuse of a murder mystery.
