There. But not there.

The 5-minute-km continues to elude us. And our overconfidence from last Sunday’s win cost us dearly as we missed the second runners-up position by a wide margin. That said, we were happy that Neha Singh from our own Tarkeshwar Athletic Academy beat us to the third position in 5km Open Females, and DJ (Dhiraj Sawant) Sir took the gold in 5km in the Open category, while Vidyanan Sir (our coach) was the bronze medallist in the 10km Open race.

That said, we did beat our personal best and set a new personal record for 5km at 27m:18s. So, not everything was a washout. Also, Baba did a celebratory dance to show his joy on our new personal best!

Final position:
23rd out of 298 runners.
4th out of 103 open female runners.

The official race timing.

Ready to race.

With Sandeep Yadav, our pacer for the race.

Coming in hot.

That’s two bronzes and a gold in that picture.

Our two cheerleaders-for-life!

Our team.

Our running statistics.

Oh, we also said goodbye to our coach, Vidyanand Yadav, who works with the Metro Authority (and helps build metro railways) and who got transferred to Indore. He leaves early morning tomorrow. He also got a promotion, and we are happy for him. But we are sad that he is leaving us. Some of my co-trainees got their shoes signed by him. DJ Sir got him a nice framed collage of photographs of his time in Pune. It was emotional for everyone. But, since we are 8, we did not feel as strongly about it since we are yet to understand what this means. Maybe it will hit us later. For now, goodbye, Vidyanand Sir. And dogspeed.

Saying goodbye to Vidyanand Sir.

Saying goodbye to Vidyanand Sir.

A final snap for the day.
