Modi. And Dangal.

So, today, as my Insta story, I put up an INC post that shows all the projects the Panauti has inaugurated but have fallen apart soon after. And as if on cue, a bhakt comes into my DMs and tells me, and this is verbatim: “Everything was at-least built at first place to collapse…” <sic>

Nopes, don’t tell me how he is wrong. I know that. Don’t tell me about his flawed logic. I know that. Don’t tell me how stupid this argument is. I know that too. The trouble is that he knows that as well.

And we have known that he knows for some time now. And recently, he has realised that we know that he knows, just like we know that he knows that we know that he knows. And he does not care. Read that again: He. Does. Not. Care.

In summary: No argument, however logically constructed and brilliantly articulated, with facts and figures, with data and citations, historical accuracy and published evidence, is ever going to convince him that Modi is basically incompetent to govern and has caused more damage than even he thought he could (I am sure he and his backers must have thought, ‘What’s the worse he could do?’ when they started down this downhill path), some of which may or may not be irreversible.

Modi, as far as people like him are concerned, has crossed over from being a mere political leader to being God. He has transcended mortality and become divine. And all such qualities are ascribed to him. Or should I say: Him. Just like God, He is never wrong. If His actions or words cause damage to you or to your loved ones, or society at large, it is because it is you, your loved ones, or the society that has heard or done something wrong. Not Him. Never Him. On the other hand, if He inadvertently does something that proves to be beneficial, He must be given full credit, regardless of who, or how many, actually accomplished the said task. This is just like when one prays to God, and gets what one wishes for, God is directly responsible, while if one does not get what one prays for, there was some flaw with the prayer (and anyway, ‘God works in mysterious ways’, just like ‘Modijine kiya hoga to kuchh soch-samajh ke hi kiya hoga’). At no time is God ever at fault. I mean, perish the very thought!

The way to defeat this man who has achieved divinity is going to be a difficult path. But it can happen. Like the Mahavir Poghat’s line in Dangal.

‘पांच पॉइंट का दांव लगा सकते हैं, लेकिन मुस्किल है। सामणे वाल्ले के दिमाग से खेलना है। दांव दिख्खाणा कुछ है, लगाणा कुछ!’

And with the BJY, Rahul Gandhi has shown he understands this. I just hope to dog that he hasn’t left it too late. And like Geeta at the CWG finals, he can pull off an improbable win in the dying moments of the match, just before all is lost. Or at least I hope so.
