And today, this happened. The LS2 Thunder FF805 I bought had a manufacturing defect, which I discovered and informed Partha about. Videos and messages were exchanged, and it was decided I needed to bring it in to be sent back to the company. Since it had never seen the outside of my house, it was otherwise in pristine (literally brand new) condition, and hence, I carried it in the original bag and box back to the store. It may take a week, maybe more, to be replaced. But I needed a new helmet NOW. What about that? Partha pointed to the LS2 Scope FF902 that I had initially liked and said perhaps I could reconsider using it until the fresh piece arrives.
And that is how, ladies and gentlemen, I find myself a brand new owner of my 3rd helmet, with the fourth (the original LS2 Thunder) on its way.
Once again, I have been humbled. When I used to hear veteran bikers speak of having half a dozen helmets, I’d mock them silently, wondering to myself, ‘How many helmets does one need?’ Well, who’s laughing now? Not me, for sure. I’m too busy buying helmet racks from Amazon.
Oh, and did I mention that I also picked up an 8-litre Viaterra Dry Bag to stash my rain gear? I reckon that if I add up everything non-motorcycle I have bought since I took home my BattleCat from the showroom on 25 April 2022, it’ll be a sum close to the price I paid for the bike. And I won’t even be surprised.
Sigh! To think that when I switched from golf to motorcycling as a passion, I thought I’d traded in a more expensive sport for a far more economical one. Ha!
P.S.: Yes, that was me laughing at the end. But it was ironic. So, it doesn’t count.
