Religions good, followers bad?

Religions are not intolerant or violent, the followers are.

WRONG. Any tolerance and rationality in any religion comes from the religious cherry-picking from it and using their intellect, experience, and humanness to jettison those parts that are violent and bigoted. Those who choose to ignore all human progress and focus on the core fundamentals of the religion by treating them not as analogies, metaphors, or allegories are actually following their religion in perfect fidelity and with the greatest faithfulness. They are called, by the sane, civilised, and more evolved people around the world, as ‘fundamentalists’.

Hence, to correct the above claim, “Religion is inherently exclusionary, xenophobic, bigoted, and violent to those who do not adhere to it, and many a-times, even to those who do. It is the religious who use their own brains to decide what parts to follow and what to ignore, what to consider literal and what allegorical. The religious are not to blame. Religion is.”

Enough of this civility towards religion. It is beginning to sound as hollow and fake as it indeed is.
