Finally. The politicians are allowing the military leadership to, well, do military leadership.
While they get on with politics, diplomacy, and narrative management.
Jiska kaam usi ko saajhe.
Credit where it’s due.
To the government.
To the opposition.
To the armed forces.
To the diplomats.
The khadi, suits, and brass seem to have worked together.
Finally.
It’s one of those rare moments where you feel this country still knows how to rise to the occasion.
Still knows how to be more than the sum of its chaos.
Still knows how to be a country.
But now, prepare for the backlash.
Pakistan (and their BFF, China) will strike back.
I am fully confident that the army is ready.
I am sure the political leadership is united behind the government.
And I am sure the diplomatic corps has already done their homework.
I only worry about my fellow citizens, about us, who are so busy fighting amongst ourselves that we may not realise how crucial it is, more than ever, to close ranks and turn towards the enemy.
As one.
Well played. Everyone.
Just remember. It is just the beginning.
This is not the time to let up.
Look to your brother to your left.
Look to your sister to your right.
They are willing to die for you.
As you are for them.
So, hold formation.
Hold. Hold. Hold.
This is the time to lock hands with each other.
And eyes with the enemy.
Jai Hind.
Jai Hind ki Sena.
P.S.: There will be losses on both sides. I mourn the innocents. Collateral damage is never just that for those affected directly by it. Let us not get carried away in the hysteria that we lose our humanity. I hope (I wish I could say ‘pray’, but I am an atheist) that this does not escalate into something horrible. The Indian army was precise in its targeting. I am presuming the Pakistanis and their Chinese handlers are aware that this does not mean a declaration of war, but a simple tit-for-tat in the best international traditions possible. As I stand firm with my compatriots, I hope for a return to peace. Make no mistake.
P.P.S.: I wouldn’t read too much into the name of the operation. Yes, I know what it means. But it is irrelevant in the larger context. Operations are named by humans. And humans are emotional. It’s OK. Let us see beyond it. Please.
