Cigars. And DeepSeek.

I don’t get the collective pearl-clutching over DeepSeek’s stance on Tiananmen, Tibet, or Arunachal Pradesh (or, indeed, Winnie the Pooh!). It’s a Chinese AI. Operating from China. Following Chinese laws. Whether or not the parent company has CCP ties is irrelevant. If you’re in China, you toe the party line.

Flip it around. If an Indian company showed Kashmir as part of Pakistan or Arunachal as Chinese territory, the Government of India would come down hard. And rightly so. If a US-based AI refused to call Taiwan part of China, Beijing wouldn’t be amused either.

What’s so shocking? ChatGPT follows the US government’s broad regulatory stance. Krutrim AI will align with Indian policies. DeepSeek will obey the CCP, which, let’s face it, is the Chinese government.

It’s a tool. Use it wisely. Trust, but verify.

Not everything from a non-US source is out to brainwash you.
Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.
