A Public Service Announcement about the Ambanis.

This article first appeared on LinkedIn.

The fawning posts about the Ambanis, all of them, Akash, Anant, Isha, Mukesh, or Nita, on LinkedIn are getting to a point where they are unavoidable. They are everywhere I look. Could we, ladies and gentlemen, even if we want to brown-nose the first family of India (?), do it subtly? A little class, perhaps?

I wonder what makes educated, well-employed, privileged people from India’s top 5% (Income: just below Rs.17 lakh per annum approximately) and most definitely from the top 10% (Income: Rs.3 lakh per annum) people, who together constitute perhaps 99.99% of Indian LinkedIn think that their snivelling sycophancy will be noticed, leave alone rewarded, by the Ambani family? Also, what are you? A feudal serf from the medieval ages trying to impress his lord and fief? What’s with all the completely and transparently fake gushing and raving about some (badly-written, ill-rehearsed, horribly-delivered, and totally failed to land) speech or some appointment to the board (based on the ‘merit’ of being born in the right womb)?

I could understand it if it came from someone working with Reliance, or someone close to the family, or someone who could at least have a technical, on-paper chance of being seen (and their posts read) by your lords and masters.

But you? You, who works as Assistant Manager in Good Knight with the charge of selling more mosquito repellants, or run a startup that is ‘Uber for X’, you, my friend, what is your excuse? And what do you think you’ll gain from this childish post?

I mean, what the hell are you people thinking? This kind of behaviour is the ultra max pro of cringe. Please just stop.
