A professional network of hypocrites.

LinkedIn has a superbly helpful feature that actively pushes a post into my feed to show me if one of my contacts or someone I know/follow has liked it, and displays the name of that contact right up there where I cannot miss it.

This has helped me immensely in understanding where, despite some of these people’s utterances to the contrary, their affiliations and loyalties actually lie. Some of the names on posts pertaining to this regime and its majoritarian policies, on issues of caste and affirmative action, on inclusivity and equality, and so on are so surprising to me because they are so diametrically opposed to the stated positions of these people in private (and sometimes, even their public posturing) that I wonder if anyone I know is authentic and honest, if not to the world, to themselves at the very least.

We have, unfortunately, become a society of hypocrites. Or perhaps, we always were.

P.S: Some of the ‘likes’ on fake news, pseudoscience, obvious propaganda, and objectively false statements are even more eye-opening.
