More loyal than the King?

I am getting a divorce. That is known to everyone who knows me (and in the era of social media, even those who know of me). What is frustrating is that despite the differences (which are obviously irreconcilable, given that we are officially ending a decade-old marriage), while Natasha and I continue to co-parent and raise our child together, talk regularly (mostly about Kym) to each other, even see each other a couple of times a day (I mean, we live in the same goddamn building for Chrissake), and be cordial if not overly friendly, literally everyone else around me (except, of course, Kymaia) seems to hold a grudge against her and refuses to engage in any way or form for whatever reason, however important or trivial.

I mean why does everyone have a need to prove their love for me by so overtly hating on someone I do not see eye to eye anymore? Yes, I have been hurt. Yes, I’d rather this not have happened. Yes, I’d rather just have gone for a clean break with my soon-to-be-ex like I did in my previous marriage-divorce, but for the kid. Yes, the reality of the situation, along with all the gory and frankly morbid details of what really happened between us will go with me to my grave and no one needs to know any more than they already do about our relationship, or the lack of it.

But truth be told, I (there is no way to emphasise a single letter in the alphabet, but please assume that the ‘I’ is bold, capitalised, and underlined, twice) am the one who has been hurt the most, who is still hurting inside, who is coping with all this emotional shit, who has to grit his teeth, steel his heart and get on with life without pause, because (a) that kid’s tinkling laughter, and (b) one middle-aged man’s relationship troubles don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. But suffice to say that I am the one who should be the most upset, the most broken, the most filled with hate and repulsion, the most reluctant to touch the past in any way or form, and most ready for a Vogon Constructor Fleet to show up over the horizon right about now.

So, what the fuck are YOU angry about?
