No one can come to and stay in power in a country such as India without the active, constant, and substantial support of the oppressed: the Bahujans, women, minorities, and people below the poverty line. If they have voted for an individual or a party, that is what they want and richly(?) deserve. We need to respect that and let them get what they want so badly.
Of course, it is the Upper Caste Hindus who have influenced and convinced, faked and seduced, and basically led the oppressed like pied pipers to their own death and potential destruction. There is nothing they can do to shrug off that blame or distance themselves from it when the shit really hits the fan, which it will, eventually. The second wave, the rising unemployment, the economic shambles, the rapes, the religious persecution, the lynchings, the arrogance, the complete incompetent bungling of everything from oxygen to children’s hospitals to employment to business to law & order was obviously not enough to demonstrate the criminal mismanagement of a state that is becoming more and more populous and will become even more important in deciding who will come to power in the Centre now and deep into the future.
That said, if this is what they want, this is what they want. There is nothing anyone can or should do about it. As a non-state-resident social media influencer, all I can do is write and raise consciousness about what is happening and what it is likely to lead to. I cannot do more.
Remember, once again: The people of UP want this. They actively went out and got what they want. We can feel bad for them. But cannot be complaining. They aren’t.
And now you know why I did not share any of the viral videos or news of or from UP, nor post any opinion about it, nor comment on the way I thought people will vote.
P.S: Here is an alternate thought. If THIS is what the people of UP think is the best deal they have got for a long time, think of all the previous SP, BSP, and INC governments and the corruption, mismanagement, and arrogance that went on at that time! This is the thought that has been bothering me for some time now.
