Divide (and rule?)

How to make enemies and antagonise people from every other state in India, breaking up the already creaking federal cooperative structure, creating rifts between constitutional equals, and living up to the stereotype, all the while reminding people from your state that they are living in a democracy and that they must use their democratic right to choose their government, and indeed their future, all in a single tweet of 172 characters: A primer from the CM of India’s most populous state.

My only grudge is: He had 108 more characters to fit in Maharashtra in the West, since he had already covered the North, East, and South. लगे हाथ हमारा भी नाम ले लेते| I think that was an oversight. Maybe he’d correct it in his next communication. That should complete the circle of abuse and cover every Indian.

Good show, Bisht. Just one question: Did you and Modi learn to divide and rule from the Brits because you read about the Raj and thought, ‘What, from the entire history of British colonisation of the Indian subcontinent, could we take away and adopt?’, or were you born with such a skillset?

P.S: In the Human Development Index rankings, of 36 Indian states, Kerala is number 1 and UP is 35, with Bihar being the only state worse at 36. Just saying.
