The more things change…

To those who think that once the BJP is out of power, things will go back to normal, all I can say is, “आप क्यूट हैं”. Do you really think any political dispensation that comes to power henceforth will let go of the party control of institutions that the BJP has learnt from the Congress, modified and customised, and improved (?) upon? Do you really think the genie that has now been let out of the bottle can be gently coaxed to go back in?

The Congress invented the damn game, man! Are you telling me they’ll simply sit back and allow democratic institutions to function impartially and professionally whenever they come to power? Do you really believe that RaGa’s personal morality, sense of fair play, and his idea of India extends to literally anyone else in that party? If so, let me know your phone number, dude. I got a sparingly used, pre-owned white marble mausoleum on a riverbank in Agra for sale just for you, at a cut-rate price.

So, if you are one of those who think that once Modi is out and the BJP is defeated, things will suddenly start looking up, remember that the BJP supporters thought the BJP is the panacea for the Congress’ misrule and presumed that Achhe Din/Ram Rajya will be upon them as soon as the INC is out of power. You can see how that worked out for them.
Beware of politicians and political parties. They are made with one and only one objective in mind: to serve and perpetuate the interests of the political party and its office bearers. Sometimes, this aligns with the interests of the country. But not always. Not most times.
