I have mixed feelings about this. Infosys has long strongarmed and underbid for govt projects. Much of what the article says is crap but some of the stuff they base it on is on the money. Infosys is not an IT company. It is a sweatshop. Like every other Indian IT company. They have messed up literally every project they got. They are simply a large gathering of employees who, in another time and age, would have been clerks in British companies and banks, aspiring to retire after 40 years of service as Head Clerks. Anyone who has come in contact with their frontline pawns, or even rooks and knights will attest this. King and Queen तो दूर की बात है।
So, yes:
- Infosys is shit. They have not one single product or service that can be truly world standard. And they know it, inspite of what they say in public.
- Their promoters are opportunistic shits who don’t have a single rigid section in their spines. They have long been closet(?) bigots and hypocrites.
- Their services and products are shit. Not a single Indian tech company can do what Xerox did or what Apple or Facebook or Tesla is doing.
- The entire Indian IT industry is and has always been shit, with all the good people working abroad with non-Indian companies or starting their own.
That they are now being shat upon is neither cause for celebration nor sorrow. Because the people shitting on them are shits themselves. It’s like a mafia war. That they are killing each other is a bit scary because, collateral damage. But it was inevitable. And no one can really fault one chutiya gang member from shooting another chutiya gang member. Fuck them all. Fuck them to hell.
P.S: I challange them to sue Panchjanya for libel. They don’t have the गुर्दा. They’ll go after छोटा-मोटा people who share this post. That’s their औकात.
Later edit: Reliance is entering the online and offline commerce space in a big way. Its biggest competitors are Tatas, Amazon, and Walmart (who own Flipkart now). Narayanmurthy’s Catamaran Ventures is in a JV with Amazon in a brand called Prione, which runs the largest operation (Cloudtail) on Amazon’s Indian marketplace. The government is putting together rules that will essentially make it mandatory to dissolve this partnership. But Amazon and others have appealed against the CCI and are fighting in the SC. Secondly, Amazon recently won a lawsuit stopping Biyani from selling the Future Group’s retail assets to Reliance. There had to be blowback. And so, something has to be done to the Tatas and Amazon (Walmart will follow; watch this space) who are the biggest competitors to Reliance here. Tatas have been called anti-nationals. You can’t say Amazon is not Indian. They really aren’t. So, the alternative was to go for their partners. That’s Infosys.
Additional commentary by a friend (Arrel Furtado): Nothing in the closet about them, you just need to know where to look. From cannibalizing their original employer’s order books, to angel seeding the likes of OpIndia, to arm twisting governments for free/subsidised land for campuses, they have written a gamut of tricks in the dirty games book that if done by an A or A would have led to castigation. They were lucky to be relatively and incrementally better employers than erstwhile India. And now with an aspirational population oblivious of the grime, aided by opportunistic whitewashing by stakeholders, they are the current equivalent of the Tata Nagars erected on and exploiting tribal lands.
Additional information by another friend (Bharat Varma): Distraction. The real story is about why they got this contract after having buggered up the MCA and GST portals so badly in the past. Even Finacle (that all public sector banks were forcibly “upgraded” to in 2016) was an unmitigated disaster. Banks still haven’t recovered from the ill effects of that POS.
