Seeing how the NIA, the ED, the police, and the courts are being used, seeing how the UAPA, 295A, 66A, and 124A is being applied, seeing what the media chooses to show (and hide), and seeing who the government brings the ‘full force of the law’ on and who it decides to ignore under the pretext of FoE and ‘lack of evidence’, I am convinced that the law is not what we were brought up to believe as children: a benevolent, neutral, wise, unbiased, unprejudiced, disinterested, and deliberate system to keep society from unfairness to anyone equally without fear or favour, indeed a force for the constantly progressing good of the society it serves, but is simply another weapon in the arsenal of the ruling classes to keep themselves in power and keep others away from it.
It isn’t as if this was some kind of a national secret that was revealed to me. It is just that I had a small sliver of hope that I may be wrong in some cases, at some times, with some people. But apparently, I was mistaken. This is not an exception. It is the norm. Not for now. But for millennia. The NIA and ED, the UAPA and 295A, the false flags and stolen elections, are just the latest mutations and manifestations of this in the present times. This is not something the BJP or Modi invented. This is not something Nehru or Gandhi were unaware of. This is just how the world works(?). It is heartbreaking to acknowledge the loss of innocence. But I must. I can no longer live in denial.
P.S: I am in a dark mood today. Give me a day or two. I should be fine. Do not take my rantings seriously. As the graffiti in the attached image says, ‘THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE’. You just need to step back from the image a bit to see it.
